Anarkum Technologies was and is Johan Anarkum's global technology company. The odd sideways A logo was plastered on nearly every robot and building during my mission to Cantos. This iconic corporate symbol can be found everywhere on Gaea as well. The truth is that Anarkum's financial future was dependent on the success of the New Haven Colony. The Colony, after all, was really just an interstellar joint stock company. The UFT had invested too much in Anarkum Technologies over the years (at one point two decades ago, 85% of the UFT's military weapons and vehicles had Anarkum logos on them) and was economically tied to the success of the colony as well. This is what motivated sending me on the mission to Cantos Minor. They wanted to keep the news about the Colony positive so investors, and more importantly new colonists, would be willing to take risks on the colonial experiment. They could only wag the dog for so long before investigative reporters broke the news of the communications blackout on the Colony so I was sent in, discreetly, to find out what went wrong. None of this will be found in any official documents, of course, but take my word for it when I say the Colony was in much more danger than any news report ever speculated.
